About the New Zealand Aikikai Federation

The NZ Aikikai Federation is the national umbrella administrative organisation providing the connection point to the International Aikido Federation and World Aikido Headquarters . It is the only NZ national organisation that is recognised by the International Aikido Federation. Takase Shihan is the personal representative for the World Aikido Headquarters in New Zealand.

The main purposes of NZ Aikikai are:

  1. To further the teaching, study, growth and practice of the traditional Japanese art of Aikido.
  2. To maintain a high standard of instruction of Aikido in New Zealand.
  3. To maintain the affiliation to and the grading standard of Aikikai Hombu Dojo.

Specifically NZ Aikikai handles all gradings in NZ under the guidance of Takase Shihan and organises the national gasshuku each year with international shihans.
